Commissioning Engineer - Electrical

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, inspection and validation of electrical systems for a high‑profile client in Abu Dhabi. The role starts office‑based with potential transition to an on‑shore site.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
• Develop and execute commissioning plans, checklists and documentation aligned with project schedules.
• Coordinate with engineering, construction, operations and vendors to ensure seamless handover.
• Lead system walk‑downs, functional tests and performance verification of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Monitor progress, report KPIs, identify issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure strict adherence to HSE procedures and support troubleshooting during start‑up.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up of complex industrial projects.
• Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage subcontractors.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and industry standards.
