Consultant Psychiatrist – Inpatient Adult & Addictions

About the role

The role involves delivering inpatient psychiatric care for adults and patients with addictions. The consultant will assess and treat a wide range of psychiatric conditions, providing evidence‑based, patient‑centred care in line with international guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review patients’ medical history and gather additional information from family members and psychologists.
• Evaluate patients’ emotional, behavioural and mental state through discussion, observation and analysis.
• Identify mental disorders and determine the most appropriate treatments.
• Develop individualized therapy plans and prescribe necessary medications.
• Analyse medical tests, track patient progress and coordinate hospitalisation when required.
• Advise patients on coping strategies for mental health issues and support their loved ones.
• Research emerging medical treatments to keep knowledge up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent from an accredited institution recognised by the UAE health authority.
• Minimum 3 years of specialty training in an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• At least 5 years of post‑qualification experience at consultant level in clinical settings.
• Department of Health (DOH) licence or eligibility.
• Fluency in oral and written Arabic.
