Consultant / Specialist Acute Medicine Physician – Acute Care & Rapid Assessment

About the role

A leading JCI‑accredited tertiary hospital in Dubai is expanding its Acute Internal Medicine and Medical Assessment Services. The role is designed for a Consultant or Specialist Acute Medicine Physician who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, delivering rapid, evidence‑based care to patients with urgent medical needs.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, stabilize and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions.
• Lead care pathways for admissions through the Acute Medical Unit and coordinate multidisciplinary treatment plans.
• Identify deteriorating patients promptly and initiate escalation, including emergency response and resuscitation.
• Conduct daily ward rounds, interpret laboratory, imaging and ECG results, and collaborate with specialty teams.
• Oversee safe discharge planning and ensure continuity of care through outpatient follow‑up pathways.
• Supervise, mentor and train junior doctors, residents and medical trainees.
• Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement projects and protocol development.

Required profile

• Board‑certified or specialist qualification in Internal Medicine.
• Minimum 3 years of post‑qualification experience in acute or emergency medical care.
• Proven ability to manage complex multisystem illnesses in a hospital setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Clinical assessment of acute medical presentations.
• Interpretation of laboratory investigations, imaging studies and ECGs.
• Critical care and resuscitation techniques.
• Emergency response and escalation protocols.
