Cost Engineer – Power & Water Transmission Projects

About the role

The Cost Engineer will oversee project cost management for a large‑scale power and water transmission scheme in Abu Dhabi. This PMC role involves strategic planning, resource allocation and close collaboration with supervision consultants, EPC contractors and the client to meet budget, schedule and quality objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain overall programme and individual package budgets as live documents.
• Track costs against approved budgets, including committed, incurred, actual/paid and forecasted amounts.
• Prepare detailed cost reports for each works package, highlighting variances, earned value and month‑over‑month movements.
• Review and verify EPC contractors’ reports on work performed and coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors and regulatory authorities.
• Manage insurance and bond conditions, variations, claims and payment verification.
• Produce monthly Forecast‑to‑Complete (Estimate at Completion) and ensure timely final accounting for each EPC contract.
• Present regular commercial status reports to senior management and the client, and mentor project team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in cost engineering on large infrastructure programmes.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities, with a proactive approach to risk and conflict management.
