Director - Electrical Design, Data Centers

About the role

DAMAC Digital is looking for a Director of Electrical Design to provide strategic and technical leadership for the planning, design, development and delivery of all electrical and ELV systems on its data center projects. The role sets the electrical design strategy and ensures reliable, resilient, scalable, energy-efficient and operationally robust systems, and leads the design function from concept through to handover.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical and ELV design strategy and governance, covering MV/LV distribution, transformers, generators, UPS, switchgear, ATS/STS, busway, grounding, lightning protection, lighting, small power, EPMS and ELV.
• Review design deliverables (calculations, specifications, drawings, reports, equipment selections, studies and submissions) for compliance with company standards, project requirements and applicable codes.
• Manage electrical design consultants, contractors and specialist vendors, ensuring timely delivery, quality and compliance with scope, budget and programme.
• Drive system optimization, redundancy, power quality, capacity, maintainability, lifecycle cost and emerging technologies for high-density and AI data centers.
• Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, structural, civil, ICT, security, fire and life safety teams and other stakeholders.
• Oversight during construction, testing, commissioning and handover; lead and develop the electrical engineering team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; master's degree preferred.
• 15+ years of experience, including significant work on data centers, mission-critical facilities or other high-reliability environments.
• Proven experience leading electrical design on large-scale data center projects.
• Experience in design management, consultant management, technical governance and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Professional engineering registration or internationally recognized certification preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEC, IEEE, NFPA, BS/EN standards and local authority requirements.
• Software such as ETAP, AMTECH, Dialux, AutoCAD, Revit and Microsoft Office.
• Technical due diligence, design audits, peer reviews, value engineering and risk assessment.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation and decision-making skills.
