Director, People & Culture

About the role

Fairmont The Palm, a luxury resort on the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, is looking for a Director, People & Culture. The role develops and implements people and culture strategies that support the hotel's business objectives, operational priorities and financial performance, and works closely with the General Manager and executive leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the annual People & Culture budget and workforce plan, aligning staffing levels and people costs with business forecasts
• Monitor payroll, benefits, recruitment, learning and development and other people-related expenditure, and analyse monthly people costs against budget and forecast
• Oversee manning forecasts, headcount controls and workforce productivity, adapting staffing to occupancy, seasonality and demand
• Lead employee relations, investigate matters objectively and coach leaders on disciplinary matters, grievances and workplace conduct
• Develop, review and implement P&C policies and procedures, and advise on changes in employment legislation
• Lead performance management, including objective setting, reviews, development planning and succession planning
• Benchmark compensation and benefits, and develop learning and development strategies with appropriate learning technologies

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years' experience in a People & Culture role, including in a leadership or management capacity
• Previous experience within hospitality
• Degree or diploma in a related field is an asset, as is a CPHR designation or working towards it
• Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills, reliability and confidentiality

Required skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
• Strong knowledge of various computer programs
