Electrician / Duty Technician

About the role

Aloft Hotels, part of Marriott International, is hiring a full-time Electrician / Duty Technician in Dubai to handle guest repair requests and general maintenance. The role covers electrical, mechanical and plumbing repairs, preventive maintenance and guestroom upkeep.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests, communicating clearly with guests and customers
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines, identify and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, switches and outlets, and guestroom items
• Replace electrical switches and outlets, program TVs, and perform light bulb and A/C filter replacement
• Carry out surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and clean up work areas
• Perform landscaping and sprinkler repairs, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance
• Enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on computers
• Report safety hazards, accidents and injuries, follow safety and security policies, and welcome guests professionally

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred
• Some experience in general maintenance, surface preparation and painting preferred
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus
• No supervisory experience required
• Driver's license required

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building basics
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules
