Engineering Team Leader

About the role

Marriott Executive Apartments in Dubai is looking for an Engineering Team Leader who will respond to guest repair requests, resolve maintenance issues and lead the engineering team. The role requires journeyman-level expertise in at least three of several trades, with supervisory duties over junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests to resolve maintenance issues
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines
• Carry equipment, identify and operate shut-off valves, and maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts through approved programs and standards
• Perform complex repairs of property, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters, meeting company standards and local and national codes, with little or no supervision
• Inspect the entire property for safety hazards, lighting and down equipment, and take immediate corrective action
• Use the Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work and follow safety and security policies
• Train and mentor engineers I, II and III, supervise work in progress and act in a supervisory role when supervisors are absent
• Perform Engineer on Duty duties, including readings and rounds

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Refrigeration or electrical license or certification (earned or in progress), and Universal CFC certification
• At least 2 years of hotel engineering/maintenance experience
• Extensive experience and training in general maintenance, electrical or refrigeration, and surface preparation and painting

Required skills

• Journeyman-level expertise in at least three of: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and finish skills, mechanical, general building management, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, energy conservation
• Advanced troubleshooting of hotel MEP systems and advanced knowledge of engineering computer programs for preventative maintenance and energy management
• Ability to read standard blueprints and electrical schematics for plumbing and HVAC
