Faculty - Business (Actuarial Science)

About the role

Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is seeking a full-time Faculty member in Business (Actuarial Science) in Abu Dhabi. The role covers teaching general faculty subjects and at least two specific areas of the assigned program, in a student-centered, second-language learning environment. It also includes applied research, student advising, curriculum development, academic administration and service to the college and community.

Key responsibilities

• Teach courses with a practical, applied approach, using educational technology and strategies suited to second-language learners, and give continuous feedback through tests, projects and assignments
• Advise and mentor students, including recommending action plans for at-risk students and supporting them during internships and work placements
• Conduct applied research, participate in conferences and mentor student research
• Serve on committees, advise student groups and help implement the college's system-wide strategy
• Maintain teaching facilities, prepare electronic course assessment files and reports, handle course management duties, revise courses and invigilate assessments
• Coach subordinates, recruit and develop UAE Nationals and promote organizational resilience

Required profile

• A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline, or a Master's degree with a relevant professional certification and 5 years of teaching and industry experience
• A Bachelor's degree may be considered with extensive industry experience and certification
• At least 3 years of teaching experience in the discipline and experience developing curricula to accreditation standards
• Experience integrating educational technology into curricula; 3 years of relevant industry experience preferred
