General Manager - Civil Division

About the role

ALFIRAS General Contracting is looking for an experienced, results-oriented General Manager for its Civil Division. The role provides strategic leadership, oversees divisional operations and drives sustainable growth across the civil construction and infrastructure portfolio, with full P&L accountability, project delivery, commercial performance, client relationship management and team development.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the division's business strategy, operational plans and growth initiatives.
• Oversee civil construction and infrastructure projects so they are delivered on budget, on time and to quality standards.
• Take full P&L responsibility, monitor budgets and cash flow, control costs, manage commercial risks and drive profitability.
• Monitor project performance, fix operational issues and allocate resources effectively across the portfolio.
• Identify new business opportunities, support tendering and contract negotiations and expand the division's market presence.
• Build relationships with clients, government authorities, consultants and subcontractors.
• Lead, mentor and develop project directors, project managers, engineers and site teams.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, quality, contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Report divisional performance, financial results, project risks and strategic initiatives to the COO and CEO.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; a Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
• At least 25 years of relevant experience in civil construction and infrastructure, including at least 8 years in senior management or divisional leadership.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale construction projects and overseeing a business division.
• Proven track record of P&L accountability, budget management, cost control and profitability improvement.
• Experience in contract management, tendering, business development and risk mitigation.
• Strong relationships with clients, consultants, government entities and industry stakeholders in the regional construction market.

• PMP certification or Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
