Health and Safety Officer – Security

About the role

SO/ Ras Al Khaimah, a luxury hotel group, is looking for a Health and Safety Officer focused on security. The role leads the security team and keeps the property safe through supervision, incident handling, emergency response and compliance with security procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and lead the security team, making sure everyone is trained, follows procedures and performs to a high standard.
• Oversee daily security operations, including surveillance, access control and alarm systems.
• Respond quickly to security incidents, emergencies or disturbances, investigate them, document them and prepare reports.
• Monitor CCTV and alarm systems and carry out regular patrols to spot potential risks or breaches.
• Maintain a visible presence on the property and assist guests and staff when needed.
• Lead emergency response during evacuations, first-aid events and fire drills, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
• Train security personnel on procedures, emergency protocols and best security practices.
• Keep accurate logs of incidents, suspicious activity and accidents, and prepare regular reports for management.
• Work with housekeeping, maintenance and the front desk, especially around high-risk zones and special events.
• Ensure security systems work properly and report faults for repair.
• Ensure compliance with local security laws, company policies and industry best practices.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; further qualifications in security management or related fields are a plus.
• Minimum 3-5 years of security experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in hospitality or the luxury industry.
• Proven experience leading and managing a security team.
• Ability to stay calm and lead the team during security crises and emergencies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to write reports and interact courteously with guests and staff.
• Sharp eye for security risks, problem-solving ability and physical stamina for patrolling large areas.

Required skills

• Strong working knowledge of CCTV, access control and alarm systems and general security procedures.
• Competence with security technologies and basic office software such as Word and Excel.
