Health, Safety & Environment Engineer

About the role

Azizi Developments is seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Engineer to lead the implementation of HSE standards across its construction and development projects in the United Arab Emirates. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, contractors and authorities to ensure a safe and compliant work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures and safe working practices on all construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, risk assessments and HSE compliance checks.
• Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely closure.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors for adherence to project HSE requirements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near‑misses, preparing detailed reports.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions, training and awareness programmes.
• Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and ensure safe systems of work.
• Oversee high‑risk activities such as work at height, lifting, excavation, scaffolding, hot work, confined spaces and electrical work.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, incident logs and corrective‑action trackers.
• Coordinate with project teams, consultants, contractors and authorities on HSE matters.
• Support emergency preparedness, drills and response procedures.
• Monitor environmental requirements, including waste management, pollution prevention and site housekeeping.
• Prepare regular HSE reports and provide recommendations to project management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant HSE experience in construction, building contracting or real‑estate development.
• Strong knowledge of UAE HSE legislation and local authority requirements.
• Proven ability to promote a strong safety culture across multiple sites.
