About the role

The Mason at the Le Meridien hotel in Dubai responds to guest repair requests and resolves maintenance issues while keeping the property running smoothly. The role covers hands-on repairs, preventive maintenance and basic engineering tasks, and requires a friendly approach to guests.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Carry equipment such as tools and radios, and identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and report daily activities and problems to other shifts.
• Perform surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program TVs, do general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers, and enter air handler schedules and make temperature changes on a computer.
• Welcome guests, assist people with disabilities, follow safety and security policies, and keep company information confidential.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and building basics.
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and changing temperatures.
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds alone, climb stairs and ladders, and bend and reach overhead.
