Infrastructure Dry Utilities Engineer - Site Supervision

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is hiring an Infrastructure Engineer (Dry Utilities) in Abu Dhabi. The engineer plans, reviews designs, coordinates and supervises the construction of dry utility systems such as electrical distribution, street lighting, telecommunications, ICT, district cooling, gas networks and utility corridors, ensuring they meet project requirements, local authority regulations and industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and technical review: prepare and review designs, calculations, drawings and specifications; coordinate electrical distribution (LV/MV/HV), street lighting, telecom and fiber optics, ICT and smart city infrastructure, district cooling and gas distribution; review shop drawings, material submittals and contractor proposals; take part in utility master planning and corridor design.
• Construction supervision: supervise on-site installation, ensure work follows approved drawings and quality requirements, monitor progress, review RFIs, method statements, NCRs and technical queries, witness testing, energization, commissioning and handover, and resolve technical issues.
• Coordination: liaise with civil, structural, MEP, roads, landscape and wet utility teams, utility authorities, service providers, clients and contractors, and support applications, approvals and NOCs.
• Quality, safety and compliance: follow QA/QC procedures, inspect installations, audit contractor methods and safety, support HSE objectives and contractual obligations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Infrastructure Engineering or a related discipline.
• Professional Engineer certification or membership of a recognized engineering institution preferred.
• 5-10+ years of experience in infrastructure projects focused on dry utilities.
• Experience in engineering consultancy, PMC, design management or construction supervision.
• Demonstrated work on large-scale infrastructure, mixed-use developments, smart cities, industrial zones, airports, ports or transport projects.
• Experience working with utility authorities and service providers.
