Junior Research Scientist – Land Economics (CITIES)

About the role

The Center for Interacting Urban Networks (CITIES) at NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a Junior Research Scientist to join the LANDMark project, which investigates land economics, valuation, and policy. The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research on land price measurement, determinants, macro‑economic implications, and political economy.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct empirical research on land pricing, including imputation techniques and data collection.
• Analyze the impact of public infrastructure, macro‑economic stability, and taxation on land values.
• Collaborate with economists, engineers, computer scientists, and political scientists on joint publications and grant proposals.
• Prepare research statements outlining potential projects and identify internal and external collaborators.
• Present findings at seminars, workshops, and conferences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (MSc or MA) in economics or a quantitative discipline obtained within the last five years.
• Research experience in land economics, housing, macro‑economics, urban or spatial economics, or related fields.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Quantitative research methods and statistical analysis.
• Experience with economic data sets and econometric software.
