Lead Commissioning Engineer (Mechanical/Piping) – Offshore, WHT’s, Platform, Subsea Cable

About the role

Lead the mechanical and piping commissioning activities for a high‑profile offshore development in Abu Dhabi, overseeing pre‑commissioning, start‑up and handover to operations. The position reports to the Project Management Consultancy team and rotates between the contractor’s yard office and the offshore site (6 weeks on/3 weeks off).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute commissioning strategies, schedules and procedures for offshore platforms, wellhead towers, jackets, bridges and subsea tie‑in supports.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of engineers, supervisors and technicians, ensuring safe and efficient achievement of project milestones.
• Manage pre‑commissioning tasks such as mechanical completion verification, line checking, flushing, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, leak testing, drying and preservation.
• Coordinate start‑up and operational readiness activities, including system energisation, performance testing and final handover documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 18‑22 years of experience in mechanical/piping commissioning on offshore, EPC/EPCI or brownfield projects, with at least 5 years in a lead role.
• Previous experience with ADNOC, Saudi Aramco, QatarEnergy or other major operators is preferred.

Required skills

• Mechanical completion and pre‑commissioning procedures (line checking, flushing, hydrostatic & pneumatic testing).
• Commissioning of process and utility piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors and HVAC systems.
• Offshore platform and wellhead tower (WHT) commissioning, including subsea cable and tie‑in support integration.
• HSE compliance, risk assessments, SIMOPS reviews and Permit‑to‑Work management.
