Lead Nurse – Outpatient Department

About the role

The Lead Nurse – OPD will provide expert clinical nursing leadership and operational oversight for outpatient services across multiple specialised institutes at King’s College Hospital London Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Provide visible, accessible clinical leadership within the institute’s OPD, modelling professional nursing practice and standards.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day nursing operations, ensuring efficient patient flow, clinic readiness and optimal staff deployment.
• Collaborate with the Institute Clinical Director and Practice Manager to implement service strategy, quality improvement initiatives and patient experience goals.
• Mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
• Lead clinical risk identification and implement measures to mitigate patient safety risks.
• Monitor nursing budget variances and ensure equipment maintenance and calibration.
• Represent the OPD nursing team in hospital committees, governance forums and cross‑directorate groups.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent; postgraduate qualification in clinical nursing, leadership or healthcare management desirable.
• Current, valid DHA nursing licence (or eligibility for registration).
• Minimum 7 years post‑registration nursing experience, including at least 2 years in a senior outpatient or clinical institute role.
• Strong knowledge of JCI accreditation standards and DHA regulatory requirements.
• Experience with electronic medical record systems; CERNER experience preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic medical record systems (CERNER preferred).
• Competence in basic computer applications, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.
