Lead Practitioner – Advanced Skills Teacher – Primary English

About the role

Wesgreen International School in Sharjah is seeking a Lead Practitioner – Advanced Skills Teacher for Primary English. You will join the Middle Leadership Team, supporting over 80 teachers across Years 1‑6 and spending about half of your week team‑teaching while driving improvements in teaching and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Coach, mentor and induct new teachers, including NQTs and international staff new to the NCfE.
• Disseminate teaching materials, advise on practice, research and CPD provision.
• Conduct assessment and impact evaluation through demonstration lessons and classroom observations.
• Support the school in developing high‑quality schemes of work.
• Assist teachers experiencing difficulties and promote best practice.

Required profile

• Fully certified teacher (B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) with a specialism in English or extensive experience leading change in English teaching.
• Minimum of 5 years NCfE experience and recent classroom teaching experience.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and organisational abilities to work with both Western‑trained and internationally‑trained staff.
• Proven experience in coaching and developing staff to become effective teachers.
• Positive ‘can‑do’ attitude, energy, resilience and a passion for outstanding teaching.
