Learning Resource Coordinator (Primary Library)

About the role

Yasmina British Academy, an English curriculum school in Abu Dhabi run by Aldar Education, is hiring a Learning Resource Coordinator for its Primary Library. The school recently completed its transition to a new multi-building campus and is looking for someone who fits its core values of excellence, respect, passion, collaboration and creativity.

Key responsibilities

• Catalogue all resources in the automated library system (DESTINY) using the Dewey system, label and cover books
• Maintain the library database with up-to-date pupil and teacher records, and follow up overdue books
• Receive payment for lost or damaged books, repair damaged ones, sign books in and out and re-shelve them
• Select and order new books for each Key Stage and curriculum topics, collating annual orders within budget
• Process resources so they are shelf-ready, weed damaged or inappropriate stock using the CREW method, and scan books for compliance with Aldar policy
• Arrange author visits, redesign the library into zones (research, creative, relaxing, silent) and promote reading through displays
• Deliver library information literacy sessions and liaise with teachers to distribute topic-related resources
• Run the Book Club, book fairs with local bookshops, house competitions and monitor the AR and Star Reading quizzes
• Support EAL students' literacy, facilitate CATS testing, support teachers and run intervention groups
• Administer the Accelerated Reader database, supervise library use and communicate with parents about supporting reading at home

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree
• At least 1 year of experience in an administrative role in the region
• Previous experience in education is preferable
• Understanding of regional values and appreciation of the UAE

Required skills

• Excellent written and spoken literacy and communication skills, with interaction with SLT, heads of department, students and parents
• Enthusiastic, solution-focused, flexible and able to work as part of a team
