Lifeguard - Pool and Beach

About the role

Raffles The Palm, a luxury beach resort on Palm Jumeirah, is looking for a Lifeguard to report to the Lifeguard Supervisor. The role covers the safety and welfare of swimmers and guests in the pool and beach areas, including monitoring, safety checks, enforcement of rules and rescue and emergency procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Check the pool and beach area daily so it is safe, clean and ready for guests, and report hazards and maintenance issues to the Lifeguard Supervisor
• Attend daily briefings and follow opening and closing procedures and the department's SOPs and emergency action plan
• Carry out a full daily check of lifesaving equipment, keep it clean and in working order, and enforce recreation rules
• Supervise the pool and beach using the 10/20 rule and stay alert to hazards
• Take part in departmental and hotel training, including regular swimming, practical and theoretical lifeguard training, and complete monthly training targets and the personal training record
• Give immediate first aid, know the fire evacuation plan and report accidents, incidents and hazards
• Maintain a professional image, cooperate with clients and colleagues, and follow hotel rules and UAE legal requirements

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Lifeguard in a luxury hotel, resort or hospitality setting, preferably with both pool and beach operations
• Knowledge of water rescue techniques, first aid, CPR and emergency response procedures
• Experience monitoring pool and beach areas and maintaining lifesaving equipment
• Strong guest service skills
