Material Inspector - Civil & Structural Testing

About the role

Parsons Corporation is hiring a Material Inspector in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role covers civil and structural testing, material inspections and quality control on construction projects, working with clients, contractors and subcontractors.

Key responsibilities

• Interface with clients and contractor staff to determine and verify project requirements.
• Perform civil and structural tests such as soil compaction, moisture content, aggregation, graduation, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, lines and grades surveys, bolt torques and concrete coring.
• Provide general inspection of all construction labour and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
• Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations.
• Receive material inspection requests (MIR) from the contractor, inspect civil materials delivered at site and report on quantity and technical compliance before signing them off.
• Prepare and complete the necessary documentation before inspection, keep complete records of the works and follow up on them.
• Ensure project quality control procedures are used and monitored for improvement, and communicate site progress regularly.
• Coordinate works to ensure a successful project hand-over and perform other duties requested by team leadership.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Infrastructure project experience.
• UAE experience preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge and experience using computer software.
• Ability to work independently and strong analytical capabilities.
• Good oral and written communication skills, able to explain things clearly to management and staff.
• Commitment to safe work practices.
