Mechanical Engineer - Construction Site Supervision

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its construction team in Abu Dhabi. The role provides on-site supervision and technical expertise for mechanical systems in building construction projects, overseeing installation, testing and commissioning while ensuring compliance with local building codes and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate mechanical installation on site so that work meets design specifications and quality standards
• Inspect mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing and fire safety to verify proper installation and functionality
• Analyze technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to identify issues and propose solutions
• Carry out regular site inspections and prepare detailed reports on progress, compliance and deviations
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors and other trades for seamless integration of mechanical systems
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, building codes and regulations throughout construction
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions
• Maintain documentation including inspection records, test reports and commissioning data
• Communicate with project managers, engineers and stakeholders about site conditions and project status
• Take part in equipment commissioning and handover procedures
• Manage and mentor on-site mechanical teams

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer with at least 8 years in building construction site supervision
• Experience with construction projects in the United Arab Emirates
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced construction environment

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems in commercial and residential buildings (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection)
• Experience preparing technical reports and construction documentation
