Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Outage Leader

About the role

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Outage Leader is responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety and optimal performance of mechanical assets, with a focus on planning and executing major boiler and steam turbine outages. Reporting to the Senior Mechanical Engineer and Maintenance Manager, the role combines hands‑on technical work with project leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the planning, scheduling and execution of all planned boiler outages, including scope definition, contractor selection, preparation, implementation, commissioning and reporting.
• Supervise contractors and internal teams during outages and other mechanical projects while enforcing safety standards.
• Develop and optimise preventive and condition‑based maintenance programmes in line with OEM guidelines and budget constraints.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance engineers to improve equipment reliability and availability.
• Participate in budget preparation, tender processes and procurement activities.
• Conduct routine inspections, root‑cause analysis, troubleshooting and corrective actions on mechanical systems.
• Support Management of Change (MOC) activities and maintain accurate equipment records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, preferably with boiler, turbine or plant turnaround exposure.
• Experience in welding, fabrication or rotating equipment is advantageous.
• Familiarity with HSE regulations and ISO standards.
