Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Consultant

About the role

The Consultant Physician will provide senior, evidence‑based care in pediatric critical care, leading clinical teams and ensuring the highest standards for both inpatient and outpatient services in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for pediatric critical care patients.
• Conduct examinations, take histories, order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe treatments and develop comprehensive care plans.
• Oversee and train junior medical staff, including specialists, GPs and residents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings.
• Provide on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, departmental and DOH policies.
• Participate in clinical audits, peer review, risk management and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent degree from a recognized medical school.
• Successful completion of a structured specialty training program (e.g., Board Certification, Fellowship of a Royal College, or equivalent qualification from a DOH‑approved Tier 1/2 country).
• Postgraduate qualification such as MD, MS or DNB is generally required.
• 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for a valid DOH medical license (or existing DOH license).
