Plumber

About the role

Fairmont The Palm, a luxury resort on Palm Jumeirah Island in Dubai, is looking for a plumber. The role covers plumbing requests from guest rooms and apartments, preventive maintenance in guest areas and the plant room, and keeping water and drainage systems running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Follow sign-in and sign-out procedures for master cards, keys, mobile phones, ladders and equipment.
• Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance (PPM) in guest rooms, apartments and assigned areas, and complete PPM checklists accurately.
• Attend promptly to plumbing requests from guests, rooms and apartments and the RSM system.
• Inspect, maintain and repair water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fixtures, taps, valves and water heaters.
• Take and record plant room readings at the required intervals and perform scheduled maintenance on sump pumps, booster pumps, water heaters and pressure-reducing valves (PRVs).
• Conduct regular plant room inspections and keep work areas clean, tidy and accessible.
• Use appropriate PPE and follow safe working procedures; report hazards, defective equipment, misuse of resources and water or energy wastage.
• Record monthly water meter readings and support water and energy conservation initiatives.
• Update maintenance records and make sure assigned PPM tasks in Side Kick are completed on schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• High school certificate or equivalent; a technical certification or diploma in plumbing is preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 years of relevant plumbing experience, preferably in facilities management, building maintenance or hospitality.
• Ability to read plumbing drawings and follow technical instructions.
• Good communication, active listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Dependable, proactive and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physically capable of prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting and working in confined spaces.

Required skills

• Installing, repairing and maintaining water supply lines, drainage systems, sanitary fixtures, valves, pumps and water heaters.
• Competent use of plumbing tools, equipment and materials safely.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures and health and safety requirements.
• English, spoken and written; an additional language is an advantage.
