PMC Specialist Project Engineer

About the role

Wood is looking for an experienced PMC Specialist Project Engineer in Abu Dhabi to lead engineering teams and coordinate the planning, execution and completion of technical projects for a high-profile client. The engineer acts as the main technical liaison for the client, managing technical scope, quality, cost and schedule, and mitigating risks.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee a team that coordinates engineering inputs and deliverables across multiple execution centers, including workshare and high-value engineering centers
• Appraise the Project Engineering team on execution principles and the contractual basis of the project
• Prepare discipline design instructions, manpower plans and multidiscipline contract requisition scopes, and interface with discipline managers on resources
• Create and implement work plans for discipline and inter-discipline interfaces, identify key dates, milestones and deliverables, and manage forecasts
• Ensure compliance with the Project Quality System, audit projects, and drive HSE, quality and assurance reviews
• Manage the project schedule, resolve escalated delays and changes, and develop recovery plans
• Drive and participate in Design Verification, and support change management using knowledge of contract conditions
• Supervise technical professionals, coordinate inputs from a large interdisciplinary team (typically 50+), and communicate with the project team

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Typically 15 years of experience in a project delivery environment
• Experience in mega EPC/EPCm projects is required
• Previous experience with ADNOC projects or PMC is an advantage but not a requirement
• Deep understanding of technical work scopes and commercial aspects of projects
• Extensive experience delivering to internal customers, including other engineering disciplines
• Able to lead a Project Engineering team and manage interfaces between engineering discipline groups

• Good working knowledge of specifications and standards
• Expert knowledge of standards, procedures and work practices, following the project execution flow chart
• Ability to use conditions of contract to support decisions on schedules, milestones and change management
• Change management practices
• Good communicator and team leader
