Process Safety Engineer (Consultant, 5-10 Years Experience)

About the role

The client is seeking an experienced Process Safety Engineer to lead safety consultancy projects in the oil and gas sector. The role involves delivering quantitative risk assessments, fire protection designs, and supporting HSE workshops for major industrial facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) studies using tools such as PHAST, SAFETI, and Flaresim.
• Perform consequence modelling, fire risk assessments, flare radiation, vent dispersion, and design fire protection and detection systems.
• Lead projects related to flare radiation, vent dispersion, and active/passive fire protection.
• Interpret technical documents (PFDs, P&IDs) and HSE documentation for workshops.
• Facilitate HAZID, ENVID, OHID, SIMOPS, PHSER, SIL, and ALARP workshops.
• Manage project delivery and mentor junior HSE consultants.
• Prepare and review HSEIA studies, Bow‑Tie, EERA, ESSA, COMAH, safety cases, and ALARP demonstrations.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (Chemical, Petrochemical, Mechanical) or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of HSE consultancy experience in the Middle East oil & gas sector.
• Familiarity with ADNOC/QatarEnergy standards, international HSE codes (NFPA, API, OGP) and ADNOC AGES.
• Strong communication, leadership, and project management abilities.
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills with typing speed of 90 wpm.

• HAZID/ENVID/OHID, SIMOPS, PHSER, SIL, ALARP workshop facilitation.
• Software: PHA‑Pro, BowTieXP, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
• Interpretation of PFDs, P&IDs and HSE documentation.
• Knowledge of ADNOC AGES, NFPA, API, OGP standards.
