R&D Senior Chemist – Protective Coatings

About the role

As an R&D Senior Chemist you will develop and maintain protective coating products, driving formulation, testing and validation activities while supporting the broader R&D strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end product and project delivery, including planning, formulation, testing, validation and documentation.
• Execute projects independently and coordinate larger tasks to meet timelines and quality targets.
• Support compliance with international performance and certification standards through robust test planning and interpretation.
• Initiate sustainability‑focused innovation projects at global or regional level.
• Coach junior chemists and technicians, ensuring knowledge transfer and competence building.
• Maintain strict adherence to HSEQ requirements for raw materials, formulations and test documentation.

Required profile

• Master’s degree with ≥10 years experience, or Bachelor’s with ≥12 years, or PhD with ≥5 years in relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of protective coating formulation, binder systems and curing chemistries.
• Proven experience in performance validation (weathering, corrosion, accelerated testing) and familiarity with internationally accepted test methods and standards.
• Ability to manage tasks and projects independently with strong structure and follow‑up.
• Proficient verbal and written English.
