Real Estate Manager – Portfolio & Lease Management

About the role

The Real Estate Manager will lead the strategic and operational management of MBZUAI’s real‑estate portfolio, covering faculty housing, academic and administrative leased spaces, retail units and short‑stay campus accommodation. Reporting to the Head of Campus Services, the role combines lease negotiation, financial oversight and team leadership to ensure the portfolio supports the university’s growth plans.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all leased properties, maintaining visibility of lease commitments, expirations, financial liabilities and utilisation levels.
• Lead lease negotiations, renewals and high‑value discussions, developing strategies to optimise financial and contractual terms.
• Prepare and manage the annual real‑estate budget, monitor rent escalations, service charges and identify cost‑optimisation opportunities.
• Supervise the Leasing Specialist and Hospitality Specialist, defining clear workflows and ensuring policy compliance.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation, mitigate contractual and financial risks and ensure compliance with UAE real‑estate regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Facilities Management or a related field (post‑graduate degree preferred).
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in real‑estate portfolio or property management, including commercial and residential lease portfolios.
• Proven track record in lease negotiation, contract management and financial oversight with budget control responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of UAE real‑estate laws and compliance requirements.
• Extensive stakeholder management experience with landlords, legal, finance and operational teams.
