Research Assistant – Raman Spectroscopy for Smart Diagnostics

About the role

NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Research Assistant to advance Raman spectroscopy‑based smart diagnostics within the Laboratory for Advanced Bio‑Photonics and Imaging (LAB‑π). The work focuses on identifying disease biomarkers from biological samples using label‑free Raman techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute Raman spectroscopy measurements on biological and clinical samples under approved protocols.
• Prepare samples, organize experiments, document procedures, and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Preprocess Raman spectra and develop reproducible data‑analysis workflows for biomarker discovery.
• Apply statistical methods and support machine‑learning approaches for classification and interpretation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary partners and contribute to lab meetings, reports, manuscripts, and conference presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, sciences, electrical engineering, physics, computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Research laboratory experience with strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with excellent written and spoken English.

Required skills

• Basic scientific programming experience, preferably in Python or MATLAB.
• Familiarity with Raman instrumentation and spectral analysis.
