Safety Officer - Construction

About the role

Careers International is recruiting a Safety Officer in Dubai for a civil construction project. The post supports the HSE Manager in implementing the company and client-approved HSE plan, policies and procedures, and helps resolve on-site health and safety issues while building a strong site safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and their management
• Conduct new employee inductions and file the related documents
• Carry out daily site tours and record observations in the Daily Observation Register
• Ensure non-routine and potentially hazardous tasks follow the permit-to-work system with supporting certificates
• Report unsafe conditions and acts immediately; identify hazards, controls and prevention and present them in weekly construction meetings
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, find root causes and prepare reports with corrective actions
• Deliver H&S training, weekly meetings, campaigns, award functions and drills, and hold weekly walk rounds with consultants and subcontractors
• Produce monthly and weekly statistics reports and present the HSSE performance review at month-end
• Implement and monitor the fire prevention system, develop emergency response procedures and aim for zero accidents
• Verify that tools and equipment are safe, educate workers and ensure machinery is properly maintained and arranged

Required profile

• NEBOSH certified diploma or bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical engineering or a related field
• At least 4 years of experience as a safety officer in the construction industry
• Thorough knowledge of local safety regulations, codes and standards
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
