Senior Brick Layer - Refractory Lining

About the role

Emirates Steel Industries is looking for a Senior Brick Layer in Abu Dhabi to plan, organise and carry out the refractory lining and repairs of ladle shells, EAF shells and tundish shells. The role works closely with the Supervisor and the SMP1 Operation Team.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out duties assigned by the Supervisor according to production requirements.
• Ensure the availability of machinery, tools, refractories and consumables needed for refractory work.
• Line vessels for hot applications carefully, following the Supervisor's work instructions.
• Report any abnormalities to the Supervisor and follow emergency procedures.
• Check that safety precautions for refractory machines are working and follow company safety policies.
• Keep the work area clean and implement operational policies so procedural and legislative requirements are met.
• Coordinate and direct subordinates to keep plant operations running smoothly.
• Train new employees and coordinate with crane drivers and the EAF, LF and CC sections to deliver the intended service and optimise plant productivity.

Required profile

• Minimum diploma in Chemical Engineering.
• Recommended: around 5-6 years in a steel plant as a brick layer or mason, including about 2 years in a senior position; around 5-10 years in a steel plant with an EAF/LRF/CCM production route.
• Preferred: professional training (nice to have).

• Communication skills.
• In-depth technical knowledge of refractory applications and problem solving.
