Senior Economist – Economic Surveillance & Policy (Arabian Peninsula)

About the role

The Arab Monetary Fund is looking for a highly qualified Senior Economist to strengthen its Surveillance and Financing Department. You will play a pivotal role in shaping economic policy and providing technical assistance to member countries across the Arabian Peninsula.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare economic surveillance reports, country assessments, and policy notes for member states.
• Conduct macro‑economic, financial sector, debt sustainability and risk analyses to support reform programmes.
• Develop economic indicators, forecasting models and analytical tools for policy assessment.
• Provide policy advice and technical assistance on macro‑economic and structural reforms.
• Lead research studies on regional and global economic and financial issues and draft policy briefs for senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Economics, Finance or a related field from a recognized university.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in economics, finance, research or policy advisory roles.
• Fluency in Arabic and English; French is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong proficiency in statistical and econometric software: EViews, STATA, MATLAB, Python, R.
• Expertise in macro‑economic analysis, econometrics, economic modelling and forecasting.
