Senior Electrical Engineer

About the role

IRTH Group is looking for a qualified, detail-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to join its construction team. Working independently, you will liaise with the contractor's technical team at the site technical office and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria to meet construction specifications. The projects cover hospitality, mixed-use and high-rise developments.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve the contractor's construction programme, material submittals, quality control plans and method statements
• Check shop drawings against contract drawings, specifications, local codes and statutory requirements
• Handle technical submittals, RFIs, pre-qualifications and handover documents
• Monitor construction activities, advise the Planning Engineer and Construction Manager on progress slippage, and track milestones and deadlines
• Ensure materials comply with approved submittals and specifications, and verify and certify quality and completion of works
• Prepare monthly materials reports, report non-conformities, review closeout reports and follow up with local authorities for approvals and no objection certificates
• Attend factory visits and supplier plant inspections, and coordinate between disciplines
• Provide technical support for pre-commissioning, energisation, commissioning and start-up

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; membership of a professional engineering institution is an advantage
• At least 15 years of postgraduate experience, ideally in architectural or engineering construction consultancy in the UAE
• Proven experience on large-scale development projects, including at least 2 years as a Lead Engineer managing a project independently
• Extensive knowledge of British and American electrical codes and standards
• Excellent knowledge of local statutory authorities' regulations and submission requirements in the Middle East, mainly Dubai

Required skills

• Expertise in electrical engineering in construction: HV, LV, telecom, low-voltage systems, emergency services, security systems, UPS and generators, fire alarm systems
• Project coordination and execution skills
• Effective verbal and written communication and analytical problem solving
