Senior Engineer - Planning

About the role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer - Planning to join its team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The role oversees the planning, scheduling and monitoring of complex building projects so they are completed successfully and on time. It involves working closely with the contractor's planners and supporting the Project Management Consultant (PMC).

Key responsibilities

• Review, analyse and monitor procurement and construction programmes using Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis of the Contractor, Subcontractors and Utilities.
• Work daily with the contractor's planners to monitor and amend the baseline programme of work.
• Provide progress reports, graphs and critical path analysis for monthly and weekly reports to the PMC.
• Report risks, opportunities and mitigation strategies to the Project Lead, advise on early warnings of potential delays, and review actual progress against the programme.
• Attend site and convene workshops with the site supervision team, and conduct independent site visits to check progress against the programme.
• Support the Cost Control Team on programme risks and opportunities of additional works and variation proposals, and maintain monitoring records to support claims and variation reviews.
• Assist the PMC in negotiations, arbitration and other dispute resolution, and review claims (Time Impact Analysis, Window/APAB), defence and chronology of events.
• Investigate delay events, including concurrent delay, and prepare prospective and retrospective delay analysis and EoT claims.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 15 years of post-graduate experience in project planning, scheduling and progress monitoring for building projects.
