Senior Pharmacist – Inpatient Pharmacy

About the role

The Senior Pharmacist in the Inpatient Pharmacy leads daily pharmacy operations, ensuring safe and effective medication therapy for hospital patients. This role combines clinical expertise, supervision of pharmacy staff, and compliance with UAE regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Verify medication orders for appropriateness and therapeutic suitability.
• Compound, prepare, and oversee the compounding of medication orders.
• Dispense pharmaceuticals, perform independent double‑checks, and counsel patients on proper medication use.
• Lead and coordinate pharmacy teams, training pharmacists, residents, interns, and technicians.
• Maintain accurate records for narcotics, psychotropic and semi‑controlled substances in line with UAE law.
• Ensure proper storage, inventory management, and equipment cleanliness.
• Respond to adverse drug reactions, medication errors, and report incidents.
• Provide drug information and education to healthcare professionals and patients.

Required profile

• Licensed pharmacist with extensive experience in inpatient hospital settings.
• Strong knowledge of UAE pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and safety protocols.
• Proven ability to supervise and train multidisciplinary pharmacy staff.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with physicians, nurses, and patients.
