Senior Resident Engineer - Infrastructure

About the role

GHD's Construction Phase Services team is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer for infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate delivers consultancy services under contract to clients, planning resources against workload, managing KPIs and deliverables, and building rapport with clients and the wider consulting team.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage construction supervision and site delivery, ensuring works meet safety, quality, programme, budget and contractual requirements.
• Act as senior site representative, directing discipline engineers, inspectors and other supervision team members.
• Administer construction contracts, including FIDIC-based contracts, and monitor contractor performance, progress, programme, resources, workmanship and compliance.
• Oversee review of contractor submittals, shop drawings, method statements, materials, RFIs and other documentation.
• Resolve complex technical and interface issues with design teams, contractors and client representatives.
• Maintain QA/QC controls, health, safety and environmental performance, and drive corrective action on delays and risks.
• Review variations, change orders and other contractual matters, and coordinate site, technical and progress meetings.
• Keep project controls and records up to date and report progress, quality, HSE, risks and contractor performance to the client and project leadership.
• Mentor the supervision team and support project close-out, including testing, commissioning and handover.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject.
• 10+ years of professional experience in project management, including within consultancy services.
• Experience in resource planning, KPIs and deliverables management.
• Ability to lead and oversee project teams, negotiate additional work with clients and manage multiple projects at once.
