Senior Structural Engineer - Site

About the role

Egis, an international engineering, consulting and construction firm active in the Middle East, is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer for a site-based position in Abu Dhabi. The engineer reviews and manages all structural submissions during construction, acting as the main technical focal point for structural matters and working closely with architectural, MEP, façade, theming, ride and infrastructure teams. The role suits someone with extensive experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel and themed entertainment projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, temporary works submissions and calculations, and verify compliance with IFC drawings, specifications, codes and design intent
• Review structural design proposals, value engineering proposals and claims, and give technical recommendations to the Resident Engineer and Client
• Coordinate with Architectural, MEP, Façade, Theming, Landscape and Ride teams, resolve clashes and take part in design review workshops
• Review structural support systems for themed facades, artificial rockworks, show sets, attraction structures and specialty installations, and support mock-up and prototype reviews
• Guide site supervision teams, evaluate site issues and field changes, and support RFI responses
• Prepare technical comments on submissions, review variations and participate in change management reviews
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations and authority requirements, and coordinate with regulatory authorities

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's preferred); PE license or equivalent, and relevant certifications such as Chartered Engineer
• Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience, including at least 5 years with construction supervision consultants in the UAE or GCC
• Experience in reinforced concrete, structural steel, temporary works and themed entertainment projects; theme park, resort or landmark project experience highly desirable
• Willingness to travel to various construction sites as required

Required skills

• ACI, AISC, Eurocode, BS and ASTM standards, and UAE building codes
• Structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS and STAAD.Pro
• BIM coordination and model review familiarity
• Strong technical review, analytical, report writing and stakeholder management skills
