Senior Technical Engineer - Data Centre Facilities

About the role

Emirates is looking for a Senior Technical Engineer for its Data Centre Facilities team in Dubai. The engineer acts as a technical expert and consultant for the Emirates Group IT technology teams, guiding them on assigned work packages and bridging business requirements with technical implementation. The role ensures that solutions meet service-level expectations for availability, capacity, performance, security and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert technical consultancy and act as lead technical member of the project team delivering work packages.
• Foster high-performing technical teams and develop IT solutions that meet customer requirements and corporate standards.
• Develop solution architectures aligned with enterprise architecture standards and support the adoption of new technologies.
• Collaborate with IT teams so that Level 1 and 2 incidents are configured in the event management system.
• Guide project managers and technology team managers on solution definition, technical design and development within agreed costs and timescales.
• Ensure incidents are resolved within agreed service levels and problems are analysed according to the Problem Management Process.
• Own and manage changes, publish and maintain documentation and a data catalogue, and manage end-of-life replacement of equipment and software.
• Translate process and enhancement specifications into error-free code using enterprise development tools, methods and languages.

Required profile

• Degree in Information Technology.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in data centre facilities, with strong knowledge of critical infrastructure, operations, maintenance, compliance, vendor management and project management.
• Mandatory professional certification in data centre design, operations or facilities management (e.g. CDCP, CDCS, CDFOM, CDFOS, Uptime Institute ATD or AOS, or an equivalent).

Required skills

• Electrical power infrastructure, cooling, structured cabling, fire and safety, physical security and project management.
• Data centre infrastructure: power, cooling, structured cabling, redundancy, high availability, Tier classifications, UPS, generators, cooling systems and fire suppression.
• Capacity planning, risk management, preventive and predictive maintenance, incident response, SOPs and MOPs, and environmental and critical-systems monitoring.
• Compliance standards such as ANSI/TIA-942 and relevant ISO standards, plus vendor, contract and SLA management.
