Staff Nurse - Neurosurgery Clinic

About the role

American Hospital Dubai is hiring a Staff Nurse for its Neurosurgery Clinic. The nurse provides direct patient care and coordinates patient-care activities across paediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, supporting neurology and pain management procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide age-specific, patient-centred care using the nursing process, including continual assessment of physical and psychological needs
• Coordinate and plan care, revise care plans, and initiate transfer plans; collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team
• Perform wound dressing and change, suture removal, and assist with NCS/EMG, evoked potential testing, lumbar puncture/drain, Botox injections, trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, carpal tunnel and steroid injections
• Handle narcotic and controlled drugs safely and document all care in the medical record
• Complete mandatory education (fire, safety, infection control), unit competencies and CQI activities, and take part in staff meetings and unit projects

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in nursing (minimum 3 years full-time) OR a nursing degree (minimum 2 years) plus registration as a registered nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand or Australia
• UAE nationals: exempt from experience and clinical training requirements; must submit birth certificate and mother's family book
• Non-UAE nationals from UAE universities: 6 months of clinical training after graduation (except Registered and Assistant Nurse titles)
• Valid licence to practice in home country or last place of employment, and a valid BLS certification
• Minimum of 2 years of recent post-graduate experience in neuroscience nursing
