Structural Designer

About the role

Ali & Sons Marine Engineering Factory (ASMEF), a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Holding LLC, is hiring an experienced Structural Designer for its Design & Engineering Department in Mussafah, Abu Dhabi. The role covers structural design models, drawings and engineering deliverables for fabrication and construction projects, including general arrangement drawings, structural details, supports, fabrication and erection drawings and material take-offs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D structural models and prepare structural engineering drawings in line with project requirements.
• Prepare structural general arrangement, fabrication, erection and support detail drawings, including connections, platforms, access structures, ladders and handrails.
• Prepare material take-offs, bills of quantities and other engineering documentation.
• Review drawings, design inputs, specifications and client requirements before starting design.
• Coordinate with structural engineers, other design disciplines and project teams, and incorporate client revisions.
• Resolve clashes between structural models, drawings and other discipline deliverables.
• Support fabrication and site teams with technical clarifications and updated drawings.
• Maintain drawing registers, revision records and design documentation, and meet project deadlines.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant experience in structural design and detailing for Oil & Gas, EPC, fabrication, offshore or heavy engineering projects.
• Experience with structural GA, fabrication, erection and support drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, coordination and problem-solving skills; proficiency in English and MS Office.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D design software such as Tekla Structures, AVEVA or equivalent.
• Knowledge of material take-offs, bills of quantities, drawing revisions and document control.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents.
