Structural Engineer – Marine Cargo & Grillage Design

About the role

The Marine Cargo Vessel (MCV) team is seeking a Structural Engineer to develop grillage and sea‑fastening designs for heavy cargo transport. You will be responsible for calculations, FEM analyses, and ensuring compliance with marine and structural standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop grillage, sea‑fastening, and steel structure designs, prepare calculations, FEM analyses and design reports.
• Support project teams during load‑out, lifting, securing and discharge operations, providing on‑site engineering supervision and inspections.
• Ensure designs meet Class, Flag and international standards; liaise with classification societies for approvals.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, prepare method statements, risk assessments and project documentation.
• Monitor schedules, risks and costs, and contribute to budget planning and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture, Marine or Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in structural design, marine operations, heavy‑lift or deck‑carrier projects.
• Strong analytical, communication and client‑facing skills; ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tenders.
• Willingness to travel internationally for port calls and project operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with structural design tools such as STAAD, SACS, ANSYS or Autodesk products.
• Knowledge of grillage/sea‑fastening design, load‑out engineering and heavy cargo verification.
• Familiarity with classification societies (DNV, ABS, LR) and IMO standards.
