Superintendent Construction - Mechanical Shutdown

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead mechanical, piping and equipment overhaul activities during planned plant turnarounds, shutdowns or outages in the oil and gas sector. The role involves managing large‑scale mechanical construction projects and ensuring safe, on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site construction teams, contractors and subcontractors through tight shutdown and turnaround schedules.
• Supervise rotating machinery, static equipment, process piping and HVAC overhauls.
• Enforce strict Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) standards, permit‑to‑work protocols and quality control compliance.
• Coordinate inspection walkdowns, pressure testing, pre‑commissioning and punch‑list closures.
• Resolve technical queries and interface with client engineering and vendor teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 15‑20+ years of experience in oil and gas mechanical and piping site construction, maintenance and major turnarounds.
• Mandatory experience with ADNOC projects, gas processing/compression and regional compliance (e.g., CICPA passes).

Required skills

• Deep familiarity with international codes: ASME B31.3, API 650, ASME Section IX.
• Expertise in HSE standards, permit‑to‑work procedures and ITP/QCP quality control.
• Proficiency in pressure testing, pre‑commissioning and equipment inspection.
• Knowledge of rotating machinery, static equipment, process piping and HVAC systems.
