Supervisor – SMP 1 Hydraulics Day

About the role

We are seeking a Supervisor for the SMP 1 Hydraulics Day function to lead the Fluids & Hydraulics maintenance team at our steel plant. The role focuses on ensuring high‑quality, safe, and efficient maintenance of hydraulic equipment to minimise production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and guide a team of senior technicians and technicians, providing instruction, motivation and quality standards.
• Execute scheduled preventive, corrective and major repairs on hydraulic equipment, optimizing production and reducing plant downtime.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Inspect equipment for compliance with engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Assist the Section Head in planning, organising and coordinating repair programmes and spare‑part procurement.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• 2‑3 years of hands‑on mechanical maintenance experience in a steel plant.
• 8 years of experience in Fluids & Hydraulics maintenance, including supervisory roles.
• 3 years of managerial experience.

Required skills

• Knowledge of hydraulic symbols, circuit diagrams, pumps, valves and actuators.
• Proficiency in preventive, corrective and major repair activities.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for hydraulic and lubrication systems.
• Experience with mechanical maintenance standards and spare‑part planning.
