About the role
The Workshop Technician will install, commission, and maintain top‑drive units and associated equipment for onshore and offshore drilling projects. The role involves working directly with customers’ rig crews to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
Key responsibilities
- Unload equipment from transport containers and rig up top‑drive units in the derrick.
- Install Torque Track systems, control panels, mud hoses, fuel and air lines, and power cables.
- Perform pre‑established functional tests and make necessary adjustments.
- Train and monitor drilling crews on safe operation of top‑drive equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, bolt tightening, and part repairs.
- Disassemble and load equipment for transport after well completion.
- Ensure all work complies with company policies, QHSE standards, and legal requirements.
Required profile
- Electrical or mechanical oilfield background.
- Technical training in electrical‑hydraulic systems (preferred).
- Experience with Tesco/Canrig related equipment is a plus.
- High school diploma; EIT/MIT technical certification preferred.
Required skills
- Electrical systems installation and troubleshooting.
- Mechanical and hydraulic equipment maintenance.
- Top‑drive unit installation and torque‑track setup.
- Use of hoisting equipment and hand tools for precise torque application.
- Ability to conduct functional testing and adjustments.
