About the role
The ALARA and Health Physics Team Leader will drive the implementation of ALARA and health‑physics standards across the plant, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, nuclear safety standards, and environmental protection goals. This senior position oversees planning, execution, and post‑close‑out activities to control individual radiation doses and support overall business performance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the master plan for health physics, defining program goals and standards.
- Provide recommendations to Radiation Safety Governance for procedure updates aligned with plant design changes.
- Oversee the Radio Isotopes (RI) storage program and conduct periodic leak tests.
- Assess and verify skin and personal radiation doses to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Endorse commissioning, start‑up, and Power Ascension Test (PAT) plans for operational readiness.
- Benchmark BNPP operational experience and apply lessons to other units.
- Report worker exposure doses to the Federal Authority of Nuclear Regulation (FANR).
- Develop and review annual exposure reports for workers, outages, and containment areas.
- Manage the long‑term ALARA plan and conduct periodic performance reviews.
- Lead the ALARA Committee to promote continuous improvement.
- Provide technical support to the health physics team and ensure high safety standards.
- Establish training expectations, monitor staff performance, and evaluate training effectiveness.
Required profile
- Proven experience leading health‑physics and ALARA programs in a nuclear or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations and nuclear safety standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and training initiatives.
- Excellent analytical skills for dose assessment and compliance reporting.
