Assistant Design Manager I - Real Estate & Asset Development

About the role

Al-Futtaim Real Estate, part of the Al-Futtaim group, is hiring an Assistant Design Manager for its real estate and asset development business in Dubai. The role manages the design process and consultants for individual projects, covering the design from pre-concept through construction documentation, and coordinates closely with Project Team Leaders/Managers.

Key responsibilities

• Prequalify and select design consultants, conduct interviews and assess presentations, and define design scope
• Control design costs and manage contracts from pre-concept design through construction documentation
• Coordinate design requirements into comprehensive designs and establish communication channels between designers
• Review designs for compliance with design requirements and statutory regulations, procure design reviews and communicate feedback
• Procure and verify design packages for each stage, ensure statutory compliance to obtain approvals and Non-Objection Certificates, and release compliant designs
• Create and manage a design programme aligned with the construction schedule, measure delivery against it and manage design changes with cost and time analysis
• Assign tasks to design management, CAD and clerical staff, give feedback to the draughting team and help develop design management procedures and procedural manuals

Required profile

• Architectural honours degree and qualification as a qualified architect, or equivalent
• 10 to 15 years of hands-on experience in design and construction
• In-depth knowledge of architectural design standards, codes and building regulations
• Experience with consultant prequalification and coordination of design scopes
