Associate Director – Transport Planning & Mobility

About the role

WSP Middle East is looking for an experienced Associate Director to lead transport planning and mobility projects across the UAE and the wider Middle East. The role involves technical leadership, client advisory, and business development within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of transport master plans, impact studies, traffic assessments, mobility strategies, and multimodal transport studies.
• Provide technical oversight for public transport planning, accessibility, parking strategies, TOD studies and future mobility assessments.
• Integrate transport planning inputs on major infrastructure, urban development, new city, aviation, and tourism projects.
• Manage project budgets, programme delivery, resource allocation and quality assurance, acting as Project Manager or Discipline Lead.
• Serve as trusted advisor to clients, government authorities and developers, leading meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements.
• Support business growth by identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, bids and market intelligence.
• Mentor and develop transport planners, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Planning or related field; Master’s preferred.
• 12‑18 years of professional experience in transport planning and mobility consultancy, with strong UAE/Middle East project background.
• Chartered or professional accreditation (CIHT, TPS, ICE, ITE, RTPI or equivalent) desirable.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary assignments and managing senior stakeholder relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to business development.
