Backend PHP Software Engineer

SellAnyCar is building the future of automotive services and is looking for a self‑motivated Backend PHP Engineer to join its product‑led, agile team. The ideal candidate is curious, a critical thinker and passionate about technology, ready to solve customer problems and help shape new features.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of a cross‑functional team to lead the development of new features.
• Perform code reviews, debugging and refactoring to continuously improve the codebase.
• Contribute to application optimisation through audits, caching and architectural changes.
• Write clean, DRY code following best practices.
• Help define requirements for new features and assist with sprint planning.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to shape, estimate and plan requirements.
• Participate in regular showcases for product owners and stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement within the team and take technical leadership on projects.
• Focus on building and optimising performance in a fast‑paced Agile environment.

Required profile

• BSc in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional software development experience.
• Expertise in PHP (or Node.js) with hands‑on experience in microservices.
• Proficiency in building large, scalable web applications.
• Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony.
• Strong understanding of version control systems, especially Git.
• Familiarity with Agile development processes and JIRA.
• Basic knowledge of Unix commands and environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
