Bilingual Legal Counsel – Utilities Sector

About the role

EtihadWE is looking for a bilingual Legal Counsel to guide the company through complex regulatory environments, manage legal risks, and protect its interests across electricity and water services. The role combines contract management, litigation oversight, and regulatory liaison to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Review, draft, and negotiate supply, construction, service, and procurement contracts, ensuring they protect the company and meet regulatory standards.
• Manage litigation and disputes with customers, regulators, suppliers, and other stakeholders, coordinating with external counsel and developing strategies.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, government officials, and industry associations, advocating EtihadWE’s interests.
• Assist in obtaining permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals for infrastructure projects and environmental compliance.
• Participate in developing company policies and procedures related to legal and regulatory compliance, procurement, and customer relations.
• Provide legal training to employees on regulatory requirements, contract management, and sector‑specific risks.
• Support mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures through due diligence, regulatory analysis, and transaction documentation.
• Contribute to the Legal Department’s annual operational plan, performance indicators, and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Law required; Master of Law preferred.
• Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify risks, and devise practical solutions.
• Strong knowledge of energy law, utilities regulation, and environmental law specific to electricity and water sectors.
